The Ministerial Conference of the International Religious Freedom or Belief Alliance

Ambassador of Georgia to the Czech Republic, H.E. Tea Maisuradze, on behalf of Georgia, participated in the Ministerial Conference of the International Religious Freedom or Belief Alliance held in Prague on November 28–30. The Ministerial focused on the freedom of religion or belief under authoritarian regimes. Along with invited delegates, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, H.E. Jan Lipavský, delivered the opening speech at the Ministerial. The panel discussion addressed the topics of misuse of religion for political purposes and how new technologies, youth, social media, and artificial intelligence can protect freedom of religion or belief.

During the Ministerial Ambassador Maisuradze, in her speech, highlighted the significance of the Alliance’s founding principles and its important role in strengthening freedom of religion or belief across the world. The Ambassador drew special attention to violations of fundamental human rights, including those of freedom of religion and expression of faith, by Russia and its occupation regimes in the occupied territories of Georgia. H.E. Tea Maisuradze talked about the severe damage to Georgian cultural and religious heritage sites located in occupied territories and emphasized the need for their protection.

The Ambassador of Georgia also participated in additional sessions of the Ministerial upon the invitation of US and British Ambassadors.
